Worklife Balance

  • The journey of 1,000 miles starts with 1 single step.
  • Take advantage of flexible work or alternate work arrangements if your employer has such guidelines (if not, propose or help develop them!)
  • Take your (earned!) vacation time!  Be active and get energized.
  • Share your workload equally within your team.  Be conscious not to take on too much, keep your schedule balanced and complete with regular physical activity.
  • Plan your day and your week by choosing manageable priorities including 30 minutes daily of physical activity. Learn to say no to obligations you will not be able to fulfill.
  • 30 minutes of physical activity amounts to 2% of your day. Find the time to make it happen.
  • A reasonable work day is less than 12 hours and a reasonable work week is less than 44hrs.  Respect yourself and respect your employees by allowing everyone time to re-create and reconnect their body, mind and spirit.
  • You get holidays and days off for a reason; take them and be physically active for your health.
  • Take your work seriously, but remember to take yourself lightly. Smile and enjoy each day.
  • Fill your spare time doing physical activity that you enjoy. Don't neglect your leisure time.
  • Make exercise a social experience by partnering up with a friend or a buddy and make each other accountable.
  • Schedule physical activity into your day-timer each day, either in 10 minute chunks or all at once.
  • Meet your need and your family's need for physical activity and family time by taking family walks, bike rides, hikes, or by going to the park for some play time, catch or tag.
