At Home

  • Clean your room – Your parents are always telling you to do it!  House cleaning is actually a great way to get a full-body workout as you move about.
  • Dance – Pop in your favourite CD and dance to it.  You can do this alone or with your friends – either way, dancing is great aerobic exercise.
  • Walk the dog - If you’ve got a family dog, take him or her for a walk.  If it’s too cold out, you can always play around with the dog in the house, or go in the back yard and play catch.
  • Mow the lawn Lawn mowing is a good cardio workout as you move around the yard, and it works your muscles as you push and pull the mower.
  • Workout Video -  Pop in an aerobics, pilates, or yoga video and follow along.  Aerobics tapes will get your heart going, while pilates and yoga help you stretch and tone your muscles.
  • Study breaks When you’re doing homework, take regular breaks and do something active.  Walk around the house or the block, do some push-ups or jumping jacks, shoot some hoops, or take the dog for a walk.
