Free Activities

  • Visit Devonian Gardens - In the cold of the winter, you can enjoy a 2.5 acre tropical wonderland on the fourth floor of the TD Square office shopping complex. You can feed the fish, or just enjoy the amazing foliage! In the summer, they have a wonderful hanging basket display at the reflecting pond.
  • Udderly Art Pasture - Located in the +15 level of the Centennial Parkade at the corner of 9th Ave and 5th Street SW. Fifteen fun and colourful cows are located there, including Cowabunga - Bart Simpson as a cow on a skateboard.
  • Shaw Millennium Park- In the summer, try your hand at skateboarding or just watch the amazing skateboarding tricks the kids are doing.
  • Take your own public art tour - Downtown boasts over 100 public artworks. Take a walk to see two magnificent murals by Doug Driediger; one on the side of the CUPS building best viewed from 7th Avenue & 1st SE and the other on the back of the Petroleum Club, best viewed from 6th Avenue between 2nd & 3rd St SW.
  • Prince’s Island Park - In the summer, it is a great place for teens to play frisbee, hackey sac or get together for a game of catch. Round up some friends, head down to the park and enjoy the day!
  • Olympic Plaza - Get your skates and head down to Olympic Plaza for some free skating in the winter.

     


  • ChevronTexaco Learning Pathway - Take a stroll on the east side of Prince’s Island and learn more about our rivers and water conservation.
  • Stephen Avenue - Enjoy a self guided historical walking tour along Stephen Avenue, starting at the Famous Five sculpture in Olympic Plaza. Then wander up Stephen Avenue reading the information panels on the brick kioskand check out wonderful details on the historical buildings.
  • Downtown Walking Tour -

    Take a self-guided Downtown Walking Tour. Pick up a “Where” map from the Downtown Ambassador in TD Square or at the Visitor Information Centers in the Riley McCormick stores in Eau Claire and Stephen Avenue and then follow the painted red footprints on the sidewalks.
  • Shopping - It is free as long as you look and don’t buy anything!
