If you are on the lookout for a part-time job to make some spending cash, think about getting one that involves moving around a lot.  You’ll get paid to stay in shape!

  • Try getting a local paper-route or delivering flyers in your neighbourhood.
  • Older teens may be interested in working as a bicycle courier in the summer.
  • Dog-walking can be very enjoyable and great exercise for those animal lovers.
  • Try offering your services for snow-shovelling or lawn-mowing. You can often advertise at a low cost in your community newsletter.
  • Try and land a position at the Calgary Stampede.  As it gets closer to summer, more jobs become available that are outside and keep you moving.
  • If you love the outdoors, taking on new responsibilities and being in charge; try a position as a junior camp counsellor.
  • If you enjoy sports, try volunteering as an assistant coach for young sports teams. This experience can be very rewarding as well as helping provide children with a chance to be active.
  •  Already have a job?  Get off the bus a stop or two early.  Walk or ride your bike to work if it’s close to home.  Park farther away if you drive.   Keep moving while at work – instead of standing around when things are quiet, find a task to keep you busy.
