- At re-treats, schedule a fitness or recreation instructor into your daily schedule to lead a physical activity break.
- Take your next re-treat outdoors. Take a group hike, canoe trip or head to your local park for a BBQ with activities like horseshoes, bocce, catch or scavenger hunts. These activities are great for both staff and family participation.
- Get your co-workers or work-unit involved in a charity run or walk. Train and fundraise together to see benefits within the team and the community, as well as individual health gains.
- Start a drop-in running or walking group at lunch.
- Offer a yoga class at the worksite in an empty meeting room.
- Get involved in Calgary Corporate Challenge events.
- Organize inter-office or departmental Physical Activity Challenges. This could be for intramurals, golf/tennis/squash/badminton ladders or pedometer challenges.
- Organize a group membership or a staff/family activity day at a local recreation centre.
- Make physical activity a part of every social event. Ensure these activities allow staff of all abilities to participate.
- Take your team Bingo Bowling. Create a bingo card for staff that requires each team to black out the entire card with their bowling scores. The card will be complete with point boxes that the players could achieve in just 2 throws. Ex. 2, 5, strike, spare, 12 etc. This weights each player’s strength equally encouraging fair and equal team play. Please see on-line tools for templates.
