- Put your coat/ shoes away in an upstairs or downstairs closet.
- Plan a family walk everyday and chart your distances or number of steps accumulated (use a pedometer). Make it a competition.
- Begin each morning with a 10 minute stretch/ yoga session, make it a family affair.
- When renting a video, walk together to the video store.
- Implement a ‘Daily Activity Jar’: a jar filled with a variety of activities that your family picks from daily, e.g. stretch for 10 minutes, play Twister, go for a walk, clean bedroom closets etc.
- Plan ahead: make a 'family activity calendar' planning an activity for each day of the week. You could include chores, walks, and how you will get to work or school. This way you can keep track of your activity levels and become more organized.
- Make your own home gym: use old milk jugs or soup cans for strength activities, use skipping ropes or stairs for endurance activities, and a thera-band or belt for flexibility. Don’t forget the music!
