How often do adults need to be active?

Adults should accumulate a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week, in or out of the workplace, as recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the GO2 partners.

What does this mean?

The minimum amount of moderate physical activity that an adult requires for health benefits is 30 minutes daily.  Thirty minutes can be accumulated all at once or in three, 10 minute time periods, although the more activity the better! By accumulating physical activity throughout the day the goal of at least 30 minutes is not that difficult to reach. Increase the amount of time you are active daily by getting off the train or bus one stop early, parking further away from the grocery store, walking your child to school, or using your scheduled lunch break to be active.  These little adjustments in your schedule will add up to make a big difference over time!
